Purpose: James Lee Witt Associated (JLWA) is a leading international crisis and emergency management consulting firm based in Washington, DC headed by former Director of FEMA James Lee Witt, former NATO Commander Wesley Clark and former Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater. Due to its fast paced growth and concurrent to its expansion into new areas of business, JLWA engaged Janmedia to perform ground up reassessment and re-design of its online brand as well as a correlated revamping of its web technology infrastructure.

Process: Janmedia met extensively with JLWA personnel to establish communication priorities and plan out an optimal user interface. Following the internal interviews Janmedia specialists performed research on current market trends to ensure that the end product exceeds Client expectations and creates the optimum impact in the marketplace.
Based on the interviews and research Janmedia drafted detailed production documentation outlining the planned changes to JLWA online information architecture, setting up a new site map and proposing wire-frame layout diagrams of the new home page and sub-sections.
The design stage took into account all of the information received throughout the interviews process. It required a close collaboration between the Client, the Janmedia Project Manager as well as the Creative Director and and the Software Engineers.
Upon completion of a detailed vetting process the Client approved its new new web image and Janmedia proceeded to produce the software infrastructure necessary to allow for effective Client side content management of all site sections via integration of the website with the Rainforest CMS platform.
Payoff: The web re-design resulted in increased visibility for James Lee Witt Associates, as well as an increased length of average site visits. The utilization of Rainforest Content Management ensured that JLWA staff were able to internally edit all of the site content, post Press Releases in an immediate manner and publish consulting reports directly to the website without the need to learn HTML. This result: effective public awareness campaigns, both in better communications with the target audience and the community, as well as cost savings over utilizing an external developer to publish reports and press releases. The emergency management consultancy is now considered a leader in its respective market.
