Janmedia Fights for Women in Central Europe 2005-01-03
Falls Church, VA, January 3- Janmedia Interactive, a Washigton DC based web design agency, has recently agreed to help Amnesty International with their Stop Violence Against Women Campaign in Central Europe through revamping their websites. Mati Makagon, President and Founder of Janmedia and avid human rights and environmental activist, believes strongly in the notion of corporate responsibility. This can be seen by the name of their Rainforest Content Management System, a software platform that allows users to easily maintain their own websites themselves. This system is thus named because part of the proceeds from its licensing fees goes towards preserving the rainforest worldwide.
Makagon, who incidentally also cruises around town in a moped in a symbolic effort to reduce vehicle pollution stresses the need for taking action. He said, "To have a chance to help the women of this developing area is a top priority for me. I was lucky to have the opportunities that led to my founding of this company, and when I have a chance to use my resources to help those in need, it's a win-win situation every time."
Non-profit organizations like Amnesty International often do not have the resources to hire extra web design staff to work on their websites but are constantly in need of a well designed site to effectively get their views across internationally. Now, issues-based organizations can contact Janmedia through their website (Janmedia.com) to request pro bono work. Janmedia will then happily try to do their best to help.
